White has to sacrifice the exchange on d8.} 1 Rxd8+ {The harder part of the puzzle is to make it work. One important motive is Ba3. Black already has a choice:} 1... Rxd8 (1... Kxd8 2 Ra7! {This amazing quiet move is the point. White has the Qd4 and Ba3 threats.} 2 ... Qe2 3 Qd4+ Ke8 4 h3! {Another quiet move. Black is so tied up, that White has enough time to make some " luft" for his king, and still retain all the threats.} 4... Rd8 5 Qc5! {threatening Qe7 mate} 5 .. Rd7 {And now comes a fine FINALE} 6 Ba3! {The rook on a7 is taboo due to Qc8 with mate, and Black is helpless against all the other threats.}) 2 Ba3! 2... Qe2 {The toughest defence} 3 h3!! {A familiar theme. Black is lost. Here is a very illustrative sample line. } 3... Qe1+ 4 Kh2 Qa5 5 Re7+ Kf8 6 Bb4 Qa4 7 Rd7+ Ke8 { And in this moment comes a star move.} 8 Nf5!!! {Amazing sacrifice. Sample lines go like this:} 8... Kxd7 ( 8... Rxd7 9 Qa8+ Rd8 10 Ng7+ Kd7 11 Qb7 {with a similar mate}) ( 8... exf5 9 Re7+ Kf8 10 Qf5 {And black has no defence.}) 9 Qb7+ Ke8 10 Ng7 {mate} your web browser and/or your host do not support iframes as required to display the chessboard; alternatively your wordpress theme might suppress the html iframe tag from articles or excerpts Chess tactics Previous Post← How to mate with bishop and knight How to mate with bishop and knight Next PostChess study 3 – Genrikh Kasparian Study → Chess study 3 - Genrikh Kasparian Study You May Also Like Chess Tactics Chess Training Chess Tactics 91 View Post Chess Tactics Chess Training Chess tactics 103 View Post Chess Tactics Chess Training Chess tactics 74 View Post
